The topic of defense procurement has captured the public eye lately. With Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the persistent conflicts in the Middle East and Sudan, the need for military capabilities is obvious. This development has been correctly identified by governments. Funding for military projects in Europe is at a peak. However, the sense of urgency has not yet reached the structures of public defense procurement mechanisms. A gap is forming between the available funds and the tools to spend them. With the Defence Procurement Day on the eighth of May, the Behörden Spiegel will bring key figures of the military industry and governmental officials together to seek solutions for more effective military procurement. A panel on European procurement will focus on the Dutch, the Finnish, and the Belgian perspectives on the topic.
