Funded by the International Fund for Ukraine, Norwegian company Kongsberg is building Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems (C-UAS) for Ukraine. Several Cortex Typhon systems are to be supplied to the Ukrainian armed forces.
The contract is worth £56 million. The Cortex Typhon system is designed to defend against a variety of unmanned aerial objects. To repel the objects, either physical attacks or other solutions are used. “This contract will provide a significant capability increase to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and support their ability to protect their population and defend their country against aerial threats,” said Eirik Lie, president of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
The delivery will not be limited to the C-UAS. The Norwegian government is additionally donating Dingo 2 transport vehicles, Kongsberg RWS and various weapons. The International Fund for Ukraine was established by the British government. The instrument is intended to identify and deliver critical capabilities to Ukraine.
