Hensoldt is supplying Ukraine with six more TRML-4D high-performance radars to strengthen its air defense. The order is worth 100 million euros. Delivery of the radars is scheduled for the second half of the year.
The TRML-4D uses so-called Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar technology with multiple digitally shaped beams. It is capable of early detection of various types of aerial targets such as aircraft, helicopters and cruise missiles. It also ensures rapid detection and tracking of about 1,500 targets within a radius of up to 250 km. Several TRML-4D radars are already in use by the Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of the IRIS-T SLM air defense system.
Thomas Müller, CEO of Hensoldt, draws a positive conclusion after the signing of the contract. He said that the delivery will further strengthen Ukraine’s air surveillance and air defense in the sensor network. “The information from the TRML-4D will be incorporated into Ukraine’s national air defense and thus protect Ukrainian citizens,” Müller continues.
