Georgia and NATO are linked by a long partnership. Against the backdrop of Russia’s imperialist behavior, it takes on special significance.
Admiral Bauer describes the transcontinental nation as an integral part of Euro-Atlantic security. The chairman of the NATO Military Committee had a meeting with the head of Georgian military intelligence, Colonel Giorgi Sherazadishvili. The latter reported increasing Russian influence in the region. Especially in the Black Sea region, Russia is increasing its presence, continues the President of the Georgian Coast Guard, Captain Ramaz Papidze. Bauer therefore makes it clear that cooperation in the Black Sea region will be maintained in the future to preserve Georgia’s resilience and resistance to foreign powers.
Increased efforts in Georgia
Colonel David Usenashvili, acting head of the J5 Strategic Planning Division, logically reiterates the importance of the Enhanced Substantial NATO-Georgia Package. The package aims to both strengthen Georgia’s self-defense capabilities and support its preparations for NATO accession.
“NATO’s enhanced support to Georgia is a clear signal that NATO will not withdraw from its commitments to support our partners,” Usenashvili says. He added that one must and would fulfill the obligations and expectations of the partner countries.
Georgia has been one of NATO’s closest partners since the relationship was established in 1992. Cooperation covers a wide range of different areas. It ranges from fighting forest fires to support measures in response to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.
