Last week, the current vice-president and designated new president of the German procurement agency BAAINBw, Annette Lehnigk-Emden, signed a framework agreement with KMW for the purchase of up to 28 PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers. In a first step, ten howitzers will be procured to replace the 14 guns that went to Ukraine.
According to BAAINBw, this first call-off from the new framework contract has a financial volume of approximately €184 million. Since this is a re-procurement of transferred PzH 2000, the new howitzers will be financed by Section 60 (General Financial Administration) and not by Section 14 (Federal Ministry of Defence) of the German budget.
According to BAAINBw, the first four howitzers are to enter Bundeswehr in 2025. Procurement is to be completed in 2026.
