Silvia Petig, Head of Women In International Security (WIIS) Germany, speaks about the origin and contribution of the network to the role of woman in security. WIIS was established in the mid-1980s in the United States by Madeleine Albright. In Germany, the association was created as late as 2003 and membership numbers have doubled since 2011. She then continues to speak about the importance for exchange between members, even though it is not always easy especially between the national associations. Goal of the Network is to further enhance the perception of women in security.
