Rheinmetall announced today that it has been contracted by the Dutch government to supply fourteen Leopard 2A4 to Ukraine. Previously – in April 2023 – the governments of the Netherlands and Denmark had announced their intention to jointly acquire Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks and make them available to Ukraine. So now followed the corresponding contract between representatives of both countries, the German government and Rheinmetall.
The first vehicle is to be delivered in January 2024, the other deliveries are to take place in the course of 2024. The main battle tanks available are refurbished Leopard 2A4s that Rheinmetall had taken over from stocks of various user states earlier. The contract is worth a low three-digit million euro sum.
