Rheinmetall AG is cooperating with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) in supplying the Norwegian armed forces with 54 Leopard 2 main battle tanks in the latest version (A7 NOR).
Düsseldorf-based defence contractor Rheinmetall is KMW’s subcontractor for the supply of key components. These include the 120mm L55A1 weapon systems. In addition, the cooperation covers fire control technology and parts of the sensor system. The deliveries of the weapon systems, fire control technology and sensor systems for the Leopard 2 to KMW will extend over a period of around four years. Once completed, the main battle tanks will be commissioned at KMW and then handed over to the Norwegian procurement agency NDMA. Prior to the Norwegian Leopard 2 NOR program, Rheinmetall was already involved as a subcontractor to KMW in deliveries of the Leopard 2 A5, A6 and A7 main battle tanks.
